We believe it is important that every child
feels part of a wider community, whether it is within the school or the
locality. The school is itself a thriving community and we encourage every girl
to play their part within it. We also want them to learn about wider social
responsibilities and this often takes the form of fundraising for local
charities, such as the local children’s hospice or any other charity that the
children may wish to support.
We have held many events to raise funds
which have included the Trashion Show, St Nicholas’ Fair, various Mufti days,
Children in Need, Send a Cow, Wrong Trousers Day and Red Nose Day.
Our House system provides the girls with the
opportunity to extend their friendship groups and to enjoy the camaraderie
which comes from being part of a team.
In the Junior School there are four houses: Marsh,
Harris, Skemp and Urquhart.
All pupils from 3 to 11 are allocated to a house on entry to the school
and they remain in that house throughout the Junior School. There are various
opportunities for the Houses to compete against each other throughout the year
including Sports Day and the school Eisteddfod.
